A valid passport and visa are required for missionary travel to Iraq.

Passport Requirements:

Original passport and one photocopy of passport information and signature page. The passport must be signed, valid for 6 months beyond stay in Iraq, with at least one blank passport page available for Iraq visa stamp. Amendment pages in the back of the passport are not suitable for Iraq visas.

Washington D.C.:

You must provide your actual signed passport, including two color copies of the personal information page of your passport. Your passport must:

  • Be valid for the next six months
  • Have at least one blank visa page (amendments and endorsement pages cannot be used to fulfill this requirement)
  • Not be frayed, torn, separating or altered in any other way

Iraq Visa Application Form:

One original Iraqi visa application form. After placing your order, fill out the application form included in your Visa Application Kit.

Photo Requirements:

Two recent 2 x 2 passport type photographs in color, front view and with a plain/white background.


OR - you can upload a photo when you place your order, instead of providing physical passport photos.

Other Forms:

A letter of intent outlining the applicant's purpose of travel to Iraq, the length of intended stay in Iraq, name of places to be visited, contact information in Iraq, and accommodation information.

Letter Of Invitation:

An original letter of invitation from the host sponsor in Iraq explaining the relationship to the applicant and the purpose of travel to Iraq. In addition, the letter must indicate the length of stay, place of stay, and host's name and contact information.

Visa Processing Time:

Approval must be received from the government in Iraq in order for this visa to be issued. Processing time will vary depending on when the approval is received by the consulate.

Registration notifies the US Embassy in each country of your travel plans and enrolls you in the State Department travel advisory and warnings program.
